Awareness and Training Sessions for Women on Natural Resource Management
1. Background
We are implementing “Gilgit-Baltistan Local Area Development Programme in Tehsil Chilas of district Diamer. The project aims to enhance ecosystem management, strengthen governance capacity with climate-sensitive gender mainstreaming, promote economic instruments for ecosystem conservation, and improve access to renewable energy solutions.
Under Expected Result 2 (ER-2): Strengthened governance capacity for ecosystem management with a focus on climate-sensitive gender mainstreaming, the project aims to conduct sessions to empower local women with knowledge and practical skills related to ecosystem conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
2. Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to design and facilitate two (02) awareness and training sessions for women to enhance their understanding of natural resource management, ecosystem conservation, sustainable land use, and water resource management, enabling them to adopt environmentally sustainable practices within their communities.
3. Objectives of the Assignment
- To increase awareness among women on the importance of natural resource management and ecosystem conservation.
- To strengthen women’s capacity to participate in community-led environmental stewardship.
- To promote sustainable practices related to biodiversity conservation, land use, and water management at the household and community levels.
4. Scope of Work
The Trainer/Facilitator will be responsible for the following:
- Design context-specific, culturally appropriate training content aligned with local environmental challenges in Diamer.
- Develop simple and participatory training materials (presentations, discussion guides, visual aids).
- Conduct two (02) training sessions for at least 50 women (approx. 25 participants per session).
- Facilitate interactive discussions using participatory approaches, encouraging women’s engagement and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate closely with the field team and Village Organizations (VOs) for session planning and delivery.
- Prepare and submit a training completion report mentioning processes and activities undertaken during the training. along with pictures and video clips, key learnings, and recommendations.
5. Expected Outputs / Deliverables
- Session agenda/ time or schedule
- Training materials (modules) tailored to local context
- Delivery of two (02) impact-oriented training sessions
- Attendance sheets (disaggregated by village and age group of trainees)
- Detailed training report including:
- Session objectives and methodology
- Key discussion points and participant feedback
- Participatory training delivery method used
- Recommendations for follow-up actions
6. Duration of Assignment
The assignment will be completed over a short-term period, covering preparation, facilitation of two sessions, and reporting. The exact dates will be finalized in coordination with the project team.
- 7. Required Qualifications and Experience
- Female trainer/facilitator (mandatory) due to cultural sensitivities in Diamer.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental sciences, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in community facilitation, women’s training, or environmental awareness programs.
- Demonstrated experience working with rural or conservative communities, preferably in Gilgit-Baltistan or similar contexts.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, preferably in local languages.
- Familiarity with community-based environmental management approaches.
- Strong understanding of gender dynamics, women’s specific roles in natural resource use, and barriers to women’s participation in decision-making.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts in simple, clear, and locally understandable language, tailored for audiences with varying levels of formal education.
- Proficiency in using interactive training tools, including group discussions, role plays, practical demonstrations, and locally relevant case studies.
8. Reporting and Coordination
The Trainer/Facilitator will report to the Regional Coordinator / Project Team, and will coordinate closely with Community Engagement Officers and Village Organizations during implementation.
9. Logistics
Local logistics, venue arrangements, and community mobilization will be facilitated by the organization

The Trainer/Facilitator must ensure:
- Cultural sensitivity and respect for local norms
- Safe and inclusive learning spaces for women
- Compliance with our safeguarding and gender policies
