The Peace & Justice Network (PJN) Pakistan is a national grassroots justice network working across Pakistan to strengthen the rule of law and human rights to foster peace and sustainable development. PJN's vision is for a peaceful, just, and inclusive society governed by laws where the rights of individuals are secure. With its commitment to leaving no one behind, PJN's institutional framework guarantees non-discrimination and equality for all, with a particular focus on women, children, religious and ethnic minorities, internally displaced and refugees, transgender, and people with special needs.

PJN has extensively worked across Pakistan on Climate Justice, Youth Climate Action, and SDG 13 Climate Change programs. In 2022, PJN also launched its flagship program "Youth Climate Action Fellowship" for equipping and developing next-generation climate leaders. PJN is managing the National Climate Action Forum, and key sector representatives as part of its advisory board.  

Youth Led Climate Actions (YLCAs) are a core feature of this project. YLA typically involves a group of 5-10 young people who plan a community project and implement using improved social responsibility and leadership skills on one of the climate actions described in the table below.

  3. Solid waste management
  4. Renewable energy
  5. Climate education in higher secondary schools and colleges

PJN is looking for a young, dynamic professional in the following position for its strengthening climate change and youth programs in its Lahore/Islamabad office:

  • Project Manager Youth Climate Action Program 

 

Project Manager for Youth Climate Action Program ToRs:

Project Manager for Youth Climate Action Programs will be responsible for overall management, development and promotion of PJN's programs on Climate, Sustainable Development Goal 13 Climate Action and Youth. Specific responsibilities include;

  • Develop and implement climate action youth-focused program in line with PJN's objectives and strategic priorities;
  • Development of green youth movement clubs - Identify, engage and manage volunteer youth groups on climate action.
  • Manage PJN’s youth climate action program, support the coordination of youth teams in community-level project implementation;
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
  • To identify, mobilize and recruit/select 1300 community youth climate leaders between the ages of 18 and 24 in each targeted district (Lahore, Faisalabad and Sheikhupura). Select committed youth for climate action under the program for continuous engagement over program life.
  • Conduct 39 training for 4 days each of selected community youth climate volunteers on climate action around identified themes in one year. 35-40 community youth climate leaders will participate in each training. 
  • Mentor and manage youth climate volunteers Youth Led Climate Actions (YLCAs)
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of climate and youth-related initiatives.
  • Manage Youth Climate Action Fellowship Program and National Climate Action Forum;
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of climate and youth programs and initiatives, and provide regular reports to the management and the donor.
  • Support the development and dissemination of youth and climate-centered publications, research papers, and policy briefs.
  • Foster partnerships and collaboration with government, NOGs, universities, and other relevant stakeholders to promote climate action and youth engagement and participation in Islamabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Faisalabad in first stage and will to other parts of the country. 
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning opportunities for youth, climate change, sustainable development, and related topics.
  • Other support tasks as required by Peace & Justice Network Youth Climate Action Programs.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master Degree in a related field and at least 3-5 years experience in Youth and Climate Action programs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge files management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • Have good knowledge on climate action national and international developments and youth climate action programs
