1. Job Profile
The Education Assistant engages communities to support education initiatives for host and Afghan refugee populations. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, facilitating school enrollment, strengthening community structures like PTCs and ACFs, and providing technical support to schools and ALP centers. The role involves capacity building, awareness sessions, data collection, and fostering self-reliance through community-driven initiatives. By promoting collaboration among stakeholders and ensuring conflict-sensitive mobilization, the officer contributes to sustainable education and community development efforts.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Education Assistant Conduct school’s assessment and select schools according to approved criteria
- Conduct community meeting, FGDs and assessments with host and refugee families
- Identify missing facilities in schools and report to Education Officer
- Strengthen PTCs and keep proper record of trainings and field reports
- Formation and strengthening of Afghan Community Forum-ACF to support Project education activities.
- Identify out of schools children, their enrollment and retention of both the host and afghan refugee children’s.
- Conduct regular visits to selected govt: primary schools and provide technical support to teachers as and when needed.
- Regular visit to ALP Center and to provide on-job support and mentoring to ALP Centers staff.
- Facilitate in conducting enrollment campaigns and outreach mobilization plans.
- Report on daily, weekly and monthly basis on progress against mobilization plans and activities
- Ensure effective and efficient data collection on beneficiaries
- Implement beneficiary identification criteria neutrally and effectively for program’s services and interventions
- Conduct regular meetings with community committees to discuss program objectives, mobilize community participation and act as a mentor throughout the planning and implementation processes
- Conduct regular awareness raising sessions for mobilization and organizations
- Technical support to committees, volunteers through capacity building trainings and continuous feedback
- Facilitate the formation of community-based Self-help initiatives.
- Collect case studies, feedback, comments and quotations from community members, teachers, children, parents and PTC members.
- Ensure that implementation approaches of community mobilization help in conflict transformation and do not serve as conflict triggers.
- Work with committee structures to enhance accountability and sense of responsibility towards common issues
- Build on existing relationships or create a relationship between service providers, District education offices, Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees, local influential and community structures.
- Deep commitment to build the capacity of the community structures to achieve self‐reliance
- Develop and design community mobilization activities, recreational exercises with children, youth, girls in the community and at SRP centers
- Will ensure the highest standards of behavior inside and outside of work promotes the values in Organizational code of conduct and safeguarding policies
- Will be a model for ethical conduct standards for other team members
- Will ensure own actions and the actions of the teams members they manage do not impact the safety of the team and the vulnerable communities we serve

3. Person Specification
Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role.
Essential criteria
- Incumbent must have at least a bachelor degree, equivalent education or diploma in relevant field.
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in community engagement and social mobilization, health, humanitarian and emergency response and/or coordination & liaison with stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent local language (Pashto) proficiency skills. Good English and Urdu language proficiency skills and familiarity with local customs and traditions will be an added advantage
- Willingness to travel extensively within the project’s target districts.
Desirable criteria
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Knowledge of protection, national law and/or human rights principles
- Computer skills including Word, Excel
- Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self‐initiative and problem solving abilities;
- Willingness to travel within district of Pakistan;
- Upholding the core values of integrity, service and accountability.
- Fluency in Local language is essential
