PURPOSE
This role will be based in Islamabad and is responsible for creating engaging content to support the ICRC's digital strategy and outreach to target audiences. In coordination with the Head of Communications, this role enhances the ICRC's digital reputation and represents the organization effectively to stakeholders. Besides external/public communications, the Digital Officer also contributes to internal communication and promotion of the ICRC’s mandate and activities.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Interacts with units and divisions at headquarters, regional communication centers and delegations.
- Interacts with vendors, influencers, external agencies, and production houses
- Externally, interacts with some key audiences.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages local/regional social media accounts using accepted best practices, develops digital projects, engages with, and delivers content to priority audiences.
- Creates, edits, repurposes, and publishes a wide variety of engaging content for digital channels, using audio visual products (videos, photos, etc.); provides the archives with appropriate versions of these digital materials for reuse.
- Ensures accurate, timely, and effective delivery of digital content, optimized for search and audience engagement, partnering with Audio-visual Producers, social media leads, Web Editors, and Digital Officers primarily in regional communication centers and delegations.
- Conducts evaluations of the success of digital content initiatives after publication and produces social media reports.
- Uses a variety of analytics tools to identify and understand social media audiences and behavioral trends.
- Identifies and seizes reactive opportunities, running and contributing digital input to quick turn-around campaigns, working internally with Public Relations Officers and externally with media counterparts.
- Provides guidance to colleagues on setting up and managing their own channels and accepted best practices.
- Designs and runs complex social media campaigns - defining strategy and metrics, developing content, reaching out to social media influencers, and reporting on outcomes.
- Represents ICRC responsibly and effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensures accurate, timely, and effective delivery of digital content, optimized for search and audience engagement, partnering with Audiovisual Producers, social media leads, Web Editors, and Digital Officers primarily at headquarters and in the regional communication centers.
- Support communication-related training and coaching for field-structure staff and/or other departments.
MAIN REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Communications with an emphasis on Digital Media, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in social media management, digital content strategy, or visual arts.
- Expertise in content production and multimedia editing demonstrated skills in photography, videography, and editing software (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or similar) for creating and repurposing high-quality audiovisual content for digital platforms.
- Proven work experience in digital or print design, preferably within a marketing or communication team.
- Experience in multimedia production skills in designing across different formats, including social media graphics, digital banners, infographics, presentations, and print materials.
- Proficiency in design software advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Sketch, Figma, or other graphic design tools.
- Proficiency in social media management and analytics tools advanced skills with platforms like Business Manager, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or similar tools for content tracking, analytics, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and evaluate successful campaigns, develop content strategies, and engage audiences across diverse channels.
