Job Summary:
The Social Mobilizer will play a key role in engaging with flood-affected communities to ensure effective implementation of emergency response interventions. The role involves community outreach, mobilization, awareness-raising, needs identification, and facilitating linkages between affected households and project services. The Social Mobilizer will ensure that beneficiaries are actively involved, informed, and supported throughout the response activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct community mobilization and awareness sessions on flood emergency response interventions.
- Identify and register affected households according to project criteria, ensuring transparency and inclusivity.
- Facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and orientation sessions on project activities.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and the community to ensure timely communication and feedback.
- Support the distribution of relief items and assist in ensuring accountability in the process.
- Collect and report community concerns, feedback, and complaints, and share them with the project management for timely action.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating project activities at the field level.
- Promote protection principles, gender inclusion, and safeguarding throughout project implementation.
- Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation.
- Maintain proper documentation of field activities, including beneficiary lists, session reports, and case studies.
Job Specifications:
Education & Knowledge:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or related field. (Intermediate with relevant experience may also be considered in emergency settings.)
Work Experience:
- At least 1–2 years of experience in community mobilization, preferably in humanitarian or flood/disaster response projects.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse communities.
- Knowledge of local context, culture, and languages of the project area.
- Ability to work under pressure and in difficult field conditions.
- Experience in conducting awareness sessions and participatory activities.
- Excellent facilitation and community engagement skills.
- Strong coordination, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Sensitivity to cultural, gender, and protection issues.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles, accountability, and safeguarding policies.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
