Under the overall supervision of the WASH & SNFI Programme Manager, the position is directly reporting to Senior WASH Coordinator, the incumbent will support the implementation of WASH and hygiene promotion activities, including coordination with Implementing Partners (IPs), field monitoring, data compilation, and community mobilization. The incumbent will contribute to the preparation and facilitation of training and awareness sessions, support the distribution of hygiene materials, and assist in compiling and reporting on field activities related to sanitation and hygiene promotion.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Provide support to IPs in organizing and conducting field activities, including baseline and KAP surveys, social mapping, community action plans, and other related data collection exercises.
- Support the preparation and adaptation of WASH information, education, and communication (IEC) materials by compiling field inputs and lessons learned for review by the supervisor.
- Facilitate or support hygiene promotion sessions and community awareness meetings conducted by IPs, community resource persons (CRPs), and local committees.
- Assist in organizing and conducting orientations for IP staff, CRPs, and community members on participatory sanitation and hygiene approaches such as PATS+, CLTS, and SLTS.
- Contribute to community mobilization efforts by assisting in the organization of training and capacity-building sessions for WASH committees, natural leaders, and CRPs.
- Support the logistics and coordination of field distributions of hygiene and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) kits, in line with IOM guidelines and approved distribution plans.
- Compile, summarize, and maintain information/data from field reports related to sanitation, hygiene promotion, and community engagement activities, and share regular updates with the supervisor.
- Monitor the implementation of WASH and hygiene promotion activities conducted by IPs, documenting progress and sharing observations or issues with the supervisor for follow-up.
- Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) to support the implementation of CLTS / PATS+ approaches in the field.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
EDUCATION
- High school diploma with six years of professional experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, or related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in WASH-related field implementation, community mobilization, or hygiene promotion activities.
- Experience supporting training and awareness sessions in coordination with implementing partners.
- Experience assisting in the preparation of IEC materials, documentation, or field reports.
- Experience liaising with implementing partners, community structures, and local authorities.
- Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
SKILLS
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with community members and partners.
- Familiarity with participatory training and community engagement methodologies (e.g., CLTS, SLTS, PATS+ approaches).
- Ability to organize and coordinate field activities, collect and compile data, and prepare concise reports.
- Flexibility to work in rural/remote areas with frequent travel.
- Commitment to inclusion, equity, and gender-sensitive programming.
Languages
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English, Urdu and one of Pashtu or Sindh is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working proficiency in both Pashto and/or Sindri is highly beneficial
