Job Summary:

The Project Officer will support the day-to-day implementation of heatwave response activities at field level, ensuring effective community engagement, timely delivery of interventions, and accurate reporting of project progress.

1-Program Planning, Coordination, and Implementation (30% of time)

  • Support development of detailed work plans, field visit schedules, and training calendars.
  • Implement heatwave preparedness and response activities, including community awareness sessions, distribution of heat protection items, and support to health facilities.
  • Support establishment and dissemination of heatwave early warning messages at community level.
  • Ensure inclusion of vulnerable groups such as elderly persons, women, children, persons with disabilities, and outdoor workers. 
  • Liaise with community leaders, volunteers, health workers, and local authorities.
  • Support formation and strengthening of community heat action committees (if applicable). Facilitate behavior change communication (BCC) sessions on heat stress prevention.

2-Develop Enterprise Assessments, Data Collection and report tools (30% of time)

  • Collect field data, attendance sheets, distribution records, and case studies. Support baseline, endline, and post-distribution monitoring activities.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for the Project Manager. Support procurement, storage, and distribution of project supplies in coordination with logistics teams.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and beneficiary records.
  • Ensure community feedback and complaint mechanisms are well communicated and accessible. Report safeguarding concerns in line with organizational policies.

3-Business Advisory Support, Networking & Partnership Building (20% of time)

  • Provide hands-on guidance to project participants Build and strengthen local networks to sustain best practices beyond project duration.
  • Liaise with community leaders, volunteers, health workers, and local authorities. 
  • Support formation and strengthening of community heat action committees (if applicable).
  • Facilitate behavior change communication (BCC) sessions on heat stress prevention.

4- Reporting, Compliance, Monitoring (15 % of time)

  • Ensure effective monitoring of project indicators, outputs, and outcomes. Support documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories. 
  • Ensure accountability mechanisms (feedback, complaints) are functional and accessible.

5-OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSIGNED (5 % of time)

  • Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming needs as assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications (Know How)

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Environmental Studies, or related field. Minimum 3-4 years of experience in field-based humanitarian or development projects.

Desired

  • Having university degree in environmental, disaster and climate related fields

Experience/Technical Skills

Required

  • Experience in health promotion, DRR, climate resilience, or emergency response preferred. Familiarity with community mobilization and data collection tools.

Desired

  • Having experience of implementing Heat Wave projects in Karachi.
