The Position:

The Psychologist role is a vital position within the organization, reporting directly to the Sr. Manager Programme. Based at the . Head Office, this position is responsible for ensuring project deliverables are achieved effectively. The Psychologist supervises the implementation of projects, ensuring alignment with stakeholders' strategies and objectives.

Significance:

The role of a psychologist is pivotal in addressing the mental health and psychosocial needs of individuals and communities. In the context of project implementation, a psychologist ensures that interventions are designed and executed with a deep understanding of human behavior, emotional well-being, and cultural sensitivities.

Psychologist must ensure:

S t r a t e g i c i n p u t :

    Assist Project Coordinator in strategic planning by providing input and feedback.

P r o g r a m m e M a n a g e m e n t :

    Ensure Project Deliverables.

    Implementation of strategic plans in alignment of organization’s vision & mission.

    Integrate psychological principles into program strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations.

    Timely and accurate reporting to both internal and external entities.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conducting confidential screenings and assessments to identify the survivors’ need for MHPSS services, considering Afghan Refugees' cultural context.
  • Provide ongoing PSS services, including follow-up and support to ensure safety and well-being of GBV survivors.
  • Linking survivors with appropriate services, such as medical care, legal aid, and psychosocial support, considering availability for Afghan nationals
  • Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to GBV survivors.
  • Advocate on behalf of GBV survivors to ensure access to resources.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong referral networks with relevant service providers who can accommodate Afghan nationals.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to the GBV Project Coordinator.
  • Ensure all actions; respect the dignity and rights of survivors, adhering to principles of confidentiality and informed consent.
  • Coordinate with other caseworkers and service providers to ensure a comprehensive response to the needs of GBV survivors.
  • Attend coordination meetings and share relevant information to improve service delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the GBV Project Coordinator/Project Manager.

Internal and External Interactions:

  • Program Management Team: Provides technical guidance to ensure PSS activities are integrated into overall strategies.
  • Field Teams: Conducts regular communication and field visits to address challenges and provide feedback.

  • Community Stakeholders: Engages with beneficiaries to understand their mental health needs and challenges.

Knowledge & Skills:

    Organization’s Vision, Mission & Goals.

    Related local law, guidelines and standards.

    Familiarity with counseling techniques, therapeutic modalities, and mental health frameworks.

    Knowledge of MHPSS best practices, including trauma-informed care, stress management, and resilience building.

    Strong Negotiation skills.

Experience and Education:

  • Psychology Bachelor Degree OR Masters in Social Sciences and other related certificates
  • 3 to 5 years work experience in in the same domain.
  • Proactive and able to perform under stress
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc)
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Local Languages (Pushto and Urdu).
  • Ability to take the initiative within clearly defined parameters.
  • Conceptual ability; excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions.
  • Good Communication skills
