A USAID-funded project is seeking HTL Triage Officers to be placed within secondary and tertiary care hospitals in selected districts of Sindh: Karachi Central, Badin, Jamshoro, and Matiari. The role focuses on implementing the Hospital TB Linkage (HTL) strategy, ensuring effective identification and management of TB cases, and collaborating with health authorities to align with project goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Triage Officer will be primarily responsible for implementing the Hospital TB Linkage (HTL) strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordination and Patient Identification:
- Collaborate with heads of departments and outpatient department (OPD) staff across all specialities to identify TB presumptive cases.
- Ensure timely referral and linkage of TB presumptive cases from OPDs and in-patient departments to the DOTS centre for screening and management.
- Patient Registration and Data Management:
- Ensure all TB patients are accurately registered in the hospital's TB03 records.
- Maintain electronic records of registered TB patients using the HDL App for efficient data management.
- Committee Liaison and Meetings:
- Act as the liaison (Secretary) with members of the HTL Committee, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Organize HTL Committee meetings, initially on a monthly basis for the first six months, transitioning to quarterly meetings thereafter.
- Prepare and disseminate minutes of HTL Committee meetings to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaboration with Peripheral Facilities:
- Facilitate coordination with peripheral TB facilities (e.g., Rural Health Centers) for seamless patient referrals using the HDL App.
- Patient Counseling and Education:
- Provide counselling to bacteriologically positive TB patients, emphasizing the importance of household contact screening and preventive treatment.
- Stakeholder Liaison:
- Maintain effective communication with field teams and government TB Basic Management Units (BMUs) in the assigned geographical area.
- Participation in District-Level Meetings:
- Actively participate in quarterly intra-district meetings organized by District TB Coordinators, contributing insights and updates from the hospital-level implementation of the HTL strategy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare or field activities.
- Skills:
- Basic IT and data management skills.
- Strong communication, counseling, and organizational abilities.
- Coordination and liaison-building capabilities.
