Job Purpose
The Trainer – Food & Beverage (F&B) Service will be responsible for teaching students the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the food and beverage service industry. This includes instructing students in customer service, food and drink presentation, service etiquette, and operational procedures within a restaurant or catering environment. The Trainer will ensure that students are well-equipped for a successful career in food and beverage service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and deliver training programs on food and beverage service techniques, customer interaction, and hospitality standards.
  2. Teach students about proper service etiquette, including table setting, order taking, serving food and drinks, and handling customer inquiries.
  3. Provide practical training in handling food and beverages efficiently and safely, ensuring students follow industry standards.
  4. Instruct students on the use of restaurant equipment, including POS systems, bar tools, and dining service items.
  5. Monitor student performance during service practice sessions, providing feedback and guidance to ensure high standards of service are met.
  6. Teach students about hygiene and safety standards in the food and beverage service, including the importance of cleanliness and food handling.
  7. Facilitate role-playing exercises to help students develop communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  8. Ensure that students understand the fundamentals of restaurant operations, including order flow, inventory control, and managing customer expectations.
  9. Guide students in creating an excellent customer experience by focusing on communication, patience, and attention to detail.
  10. Evaluate student progress and provide ongoing feedback, helping students improve their service skills through continuous learning.
  11. Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure training materials and lessons are up-to-date and relevant to current industry trends.
  12. Track and document students’ performance, attendance, and skills development throughout the training program.
  13. Encourage students to build confidence and professionalism in their interactions with customers and colleagues.
  14. Assist in preparing and updating the curriculum, including new methods and techniques in food and beverage service based on industry best practices.

 

 

Performance Indicators

  • Improvement in students’ food and beverage service skills, including customer service, table setting, and order accuracy.
  • Consistency and quality of service during practical training sessions.
  • Student satisfaction and feedback regarding the training process.
  • Successful demonstration of service etiquette and food safety protocols by students.
  • Timeliness and accuracy of student evaluations and progress reports.
  • Alignment of training outcomes with industry expectations and employer needs.
  • Completion rate of students who successfully transition to employment in the food and beverage sector.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in food and beverage service or hospitality training is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of professional experience in food and beverage service within hotels, restaurants, or catering services.
  • Prior experience in training or mentoring adult learners is preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards, etiquette, and operations.
  • Ability to teach and mentor adult learners effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of hygiene, safety, and sanitation regulations in hospitality.
  • Organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Professionalism, patience, and ability to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Adaptability to integrate current trends and industry best practices into training content.
